To Sit Still and Think

Dr. Susan Pollak, clinical instructor at Harvard Medical School/Cambridge Health Alliance, recently presented a “Mindfulness and School Stress” workshop to volunteers, teachers, and Cambridge parents. Cambridge School Volunteers hosted Dr. Pollak’s workshop as part of Cambridge’s Screen-Free/Screen-Wise Week 2014, Cambridge’s version of national Screen-Free Week. The program began with an introduction on school stress by Paula Feynman, the school district’s academic challenge and enrichment manager. Did you miss this workshop? You can still learn about the practices of mindfulness and incorporate them into your tutoring and support for students.

CSV was one of twelve nonprofit organizations, city departments, and locally owned businesses (in addition to individual volunteers) who put on 23 free events during the campaign. The city’s Screen-Free/Screen-Wise week, an initiative of the city’s Healthy Children Task Force, dovetailed with national screen-free week.
