Our most urgent need is for one-to-one mentors on Tuesday mornings, in our Art & Science in One program. For the next school year, 2022–23, review the schedules and coresponding opportunities below. This page was last updated on 5/15/22.
Volunteer tutors are needed to staff high school drop-in math help sessions between 8:00 and 8:30 every weekday, at Cambridge Rindge and Latin School, 459 Broadway.
Regular tutoring sessions for a student paired every week with the same tutor, are also available during this before-school period.
Our school-day openings including math and elementary literacy placements in the city's public K–5 and preK–5 schools. As of April 1, we are still enrolling students for our outdoor learning program on Tuesday or Friday mornings. Other opportunities to volunteer may open up on an as-needed basis. We accept teacher requests for volunteers through April.
After-school tutoring is offered by CSV to middle schoolers referred by their teachers once a week, from 3:00 to 4:30, at CSV's Learning Centers located in the city's upper schools. Depending on the school, Learning Centers are open on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, or Thursdays. As of April 1, these openings are filled.
At the high school, volunteers tutor the students with whom they have been paired on a consistent, weekly basis, at the CSV/CRLS Tutoring Center (open and staffed weekdays, 3:15–4:15 p.m.) As of April 1, we are still recruiting volunteers to work with Grade 11 students in College and Career Mentoring Program (CCMP), on Wednesdays after school, 3:15–4:30. These CCMP positions are either one-to-one or small-group roles that may or may not involve working with the same student(s) every week.
Opportunities for remote volunteering are fewer in 2021–2022 school year, but we do enroll volunteers for a few virtual matches at the high school level. Remote volunteering via videoconference may take place during any of the times above, or on weekends or in the evenings.
